School Nurses Rock!

Tonight I went out for dinner at a local pizza place (YUMMY)!
One of the gals working graduated from high school last month.
I was thrilled to see her working because I love getting
updates on what is going in her life and
the plans she has for her future.

As she walked away from the table she said...

"I'm going to ask if I can give you my discount-
you're like family to me because you helped me
so much throughout my high school years.

How sweet is that?

Getting out of PE class... Attempt #5!

I'm not sure how it works in your school, but over the years I've
often reviewed notes that excuse students from PE class.

Typically we deal with the notes written by a physician,
but occasionally students will bring us notes from home.
If I had kept better notes I probably could have
written a book with those notes alone,
however I didn't keep great notes.

On to the point of this post.... It usually isn't the request to keep
the student out of PE that makes us hold back a giggle,
but the spelling inside the note.  For example:

"No PE for Student ID.  They sprunged there ankel."

What?  How many English teachers are hyperventilating
after reading those sentences?

Sometimes I want to LOL!

Does this ever happen to you?

... a student enters your office with a request,
for some reason you remember a movie scene
somehow associated to their request,
then you just want to laugh out loud?

Well, on several different occasions this school year
students have entered the office requesting Chapstick!
My mind immediately shows the scene from
the awesome Napoleon Dynamite movie!
If you have no idea what I'm talking about
it would be worth 1 minute 16 seconds of your life to check out this video!...

Summertime... Thongs vs. Flip-Flops!

Is school out making it officially summertime for anyone else yet?  With the warm weather finally here it reminds me of a hilariously funny all school announcement that was made via the speaker system when I worked at a junior high school (6th, 7th, and 8th grade).
Imagine this:  The weather is starting to get warm & the sun is shining brightly in the brilliant blue skies, the leaves are a stunning green & being calmly pushed by a gentle wind, and the birds are happily chirping.  All of a sudden the school principal decides of a great safety awareness announcement that must be made.  So, without doing any research; the principal got on the all school speaker system with a lovely PSA that went something like this, "Attention students:  Even though the weather is getting warmer you are not allowed to wear THONGS to school.  Again, for safety reasons please do NOT wear thongs to school.  We will be checking every morning to make sure every student is following this dress code.  Thank You."
She had no idea that "thongs" are now known as "flip-flops" & that thongs now refer to a very specific type of pantie ... I will say no more :)
