What time is it? - note card printables

It's 12:47 PM.... do you know what your students are doing?

That's right... 12:47 PM...
not 12:45 PM or even 1:00 PM but exactly 12:47 PM!

Well once, I had a female student she had to take her
birth control pill at exactly 12:47 PM!

:) oh the joys of school nursing!
@ least she was taking the "exact time each day" warning to the minute;
I only hope she will remember warning about taking antibiotics with BCPs...

Anyway, I had a super busy week!

Super busy means the time went by very quickly- which is a plus,
but I also wasn't able to really appreciate all of
the interactions I had with students and staff :(

Do you ever have super busy weeks?
How do you deal with the craziness?

Enjoy the notecard printables :)

Happy cyber Monday!

cyber Monday already?
Where did my 5 days off go?
I really enjoyed my time @ home :)  Always do!

The next few weeks
(until Christmas break) will fly by!

A few additional items I need to focus on include:
  1. Vision & Hearing Screenings
  2. Vision & Hearing referral letters
  3. An evaluation tool for school nurses- would LOVE to see one you use. If you have one please contact me! :)
  4. Adopt-a-Family gifts and delivery of gifts.  The Health Center staff, the school's social worker, the bus drivers, and several other teachers/staff members adopt a school family each Christmas.  This year we've decided on our family and they have accepted our offer to help!

I know my time at work will go by so quickly the next few weeks!
How do you keep your office organized during these busy days?
What special projects are you working on?
I would LOVE to hear from you :)

Remembering Jake Arnett

This was a hard week for me:(

I had to say goodbye to a former student.
You might still be able to view his obituary here.
I wrote this post & poem to help me remember him.
He spent time in my office on & off since
his JR year of high school.
I always looked forward to hearing
what he had to talk about.
He was one of the nicest boys ever!
Always kind, considerate, and funny :)

Sadly, others students I've worked with over
the years have died @ young ages- too young actually.
(Magaly, Sam, Bryan, Kirbie to name too many)
You might remember an earlier post I wrote about Kirbie?

Cancer Sucks :(

You can view 2 other personal posts
about my dad's death here & here...

A fe-what?

A fedora- or fancy hat I call it!
Evidently my 5th grade son thought he really needed one!
I honestly had no idea this type of hat was known as a fedora,
but then again I've never been big on wearing hats.

When my son saw this particular Stacy Adams fedora
this summer while we were on vacation he couldn't resist!
What a great accessory for our beach pictures!

You can buy your son his own Stacy Adams fedora too!

Moms Who Care

Click above to read more from the Moms
on their very own Facebook page!

We've had the room open for two Thursdays now
and things are moving along quite nicely!

The kids who are taking advantage of the room
 have been very appreciative!

This week they had one student schedule a free haircut
with a local gal who is offering free cuts to
those students in need!  How wonderful :)

I still had time to do ...
  • random drug tests
  • flu shots for staff - do you offer these?
  • tutoring requests
  • vision & hearing screenings- always fun!
  • one emergency call
  • many, many, many daily visits and parent calls
  • this weekend I am planning on visiting a former student who is in the hospital dying of cancer:(I cry just thinking about it)...

in my free time...

Although I obviously love being a school nurse,
wife, mother, daughter, sister, d-i-l, s-i-l. Aunt, friend, etc etc;
I decided a couple of years ago that I needed a hobby!

I really enjoy a lot of different things-
music, decorating, shopping, painting-
and then I found photography!
I have always loved taking snapshots and scrap booking
(even long before CM; I mean way long before like
the weird tacky pages with the sticky overlay and then
making your own fabric cover long before!).

I just didn't realize how much I could
enjoy 'taking pictures'; really taking pictures.
Capturing Moments. Making Memories.

So anyway, a few years ago my husband bought
me a fancy camera and I've been learning how to use it ever since!
Here are a few pictures I have taken over the last few months.
Hope you Enjoy...

What do you like to do in your free time?
I would love to hear from you!
