Did you pray for my puppy?

Otis Update!

Remember a few months back I was requesting prayers for my puppy, Otis?
Or maybe you remembering reading the updates about Otis here and here?

Well I am so happy to say he is HEALTHY now!
He made it through the horrible virus the doctors believe to have been distemper :(
He also made it through his surgery to get neutered!

He is a normal, healthy, happy puppy now!
He is 4 1/2 months old and weights just over 40 pounds!
The vet thinks he will double in size as he grows into an adult dog!

He is so funny loving... he runs, jumps, and plays again.
We are so thankful ~
If you prayed for our puppy... Thank You :)

In case you are wondering.... Otis is a silver lab!

Moms Who Care money!

Remember the Moms Who Care?
Well, a wonderful Mom donated $50!
The Moms Who Care used this money to
purchase much needed tennis shoes for two students!

Since school ends this week the Moms are taking a break @ school.

However, they will be hard at work making some improvements in the room!
Donations are still being accepted too & bargain shopping will continue as well!
We have big plans for next school year!

Do you work with Moms Who Care?  I hope so!

What should I do with all of these glasses?

Where I work... the Health Center ends up with all of the 'lost' glasses!
Even though we've announced that we have all of these - they remain unclaimed :(
We wanted to figure out a way to recycle these!
I did some research and found out the Lions Club accepts eyeglasses!
You can read more about their Eyeglass Recycling program here.

If your office ends up with a bunch of unclaimed eyeglasses then
please consider mailing them to:

Lions Club International Headquarters
Attention: Receiving Department
300 West 22nd Street
Oak Brook, IL 60523, USA

I am happy to help the Lions Club because they
have helped many of my students over the years.
Each year I have 2-3 families who apply for financial assistance
for an eye exam and glasses (if needed).
My local Lions Club has helped all of the families I've referred!

Not only does the Lions Clubs offer help for vision needs;
they also offer assistance for:
hearing aids, health-related services, scholarships or educational needs!
You can find your local Lions Club here!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy (early) Mother's Day!

this is sort of a long post... if you're only looking for the pretty pictures scroll down to the end!

I am a mom to three wonderful kids!
My mom is also a mom to three (most of the time) wonderful kids!
I have 2 girls and 1 boy... My mom also has 2 girls and 1 boy :)
How sweet :)
Love you Mom- I can type that here because I'm pretty sure she reads this blog :)
On to the post...
Remember the Moms Who Care?
How could you forget them, right?!
Well, someone did the nicest thing for the Moms today!
It started yesterday afternoon when I received an anonymous phone call.
The young gal on the other end told me how touched she was by our Moms Who Care program.
She thinks it is so wonderful that a local school (not even her own school!)
has so many volunteer Moms Who Care for children who aren't their own!
She wanted to do something nice for these Moms and figured Mother's Day was the perfect time!
So, using her own money she purchased the Moms beautiful flowers,
a balloon, and a included a handwritten note (handwritten notes are great by the way!).
She then delivered the items to the school bright and early Thursday morning
and by using me as a messenger she is able to remain anonymous!  I love it :)
Many of us I'm bet are thinking something along the lines of
'how nice for the kids to have such kind and caring Moms to help them'....
And that is true; more than we will ever know!
But the great and wonderful thing is...
the Moms Who Care are actually thinking something along the lines of
'how nice for us that we have this great opportunity to work with and help such beautiful, talented,
kind, smart, funny, educated, hopeful, smiling, happy, energetic, creative kids!'
the Moms Who Care group is a great thing for all of us involved!
I'm thankful for them too :)

Happy Mother's Day

to all of the Moms Who Care for their own children and

the children they come in contact with throughout their days!

PS... I found the awesome, free photo templates on the above blog!

Do you work with Moms Who Care?

Moms Who Care

I know I've mentioned the Moms Who Care before-
you can click on the link above or in the sidebar for more information.
You can read more posts about the volunteer group here, here, here ....
I thought there was one more too, but I can't seem to find it : )

Working with this volunteer group is one of the highlights of my weeks!
I  am very thankful that the administration and school board
allow this volunteer group to help our students!
It is hard to find words to express what these Moms mean to me-
I can only imagine how difficult it is for the students to find the right words!

One of our very talented students made a video (for the visual learners!)
about our local Moms Who Care group...
