snow day!

Anyone else out there celebrating a snow day today?

I was already driving to work when I got the call that school was cancelled due to the weather.
I know there are some very excited kids out there (including my own)!

Just For Fun... Printable Note Cards for School Nurses

Look what Amanda taught me!

I've followed the blog
Fan of kevinandamanda.com! Free Fonts. Recipes. Scrapbooking. Photography. Blog Design. Tutorials. Giveaway. Everything you're into!
for several years now!
I've never met Amanda, but I LOVE reading her blog.
She has wonderful photography, recipes, and tutorials.
Not to mention the cutest dogs ever!
Well, recently she wrote a tutorial on how to make an animated image-
I loved the idea and wondered if I would be able to figure it out.
Guess what?
Yep- I was able to figure it out!

Thanks Amanda!

Here goes... What do you guys think?

Here are the free school nurse note card printables...

You should be able to right click, save, and print on regular computer paper!
If not, email me and I'll send you the JPeg file.

Did they turn out blurry?
If so, maybe try this other PDF file link...
I'm still learning with all of this computer stuff :)

PS... I've posted these before but I changed the fonts up this time around :)
Are there any printables you would like to see me post?
If so, please leave a comment with your request.

another to do post

Another busy week!

I feel like this was another busy week- both professionally and personally!
Personally, I celebrated a birthday-
then the very next day was one of my daughter's birthday followed
by my son's birthday the day after!
This birthday bundle wasn't  planned so close together.
It just sort of happened that way!
It is fun, busy, and expensive :)
Professionally, it was a busy week too.
I managed to finish up a few projects I had going on
which always makes me happy!
The school year is flying by and I'm already starting to
think about things for next year!
Crazy, I know!
Just to help keep me focused on some things I need to get
done this week I created another cute to-do list.
I've been printing these out each Monday so I can
use it as a visual on my desk as the week goes by :)
I'm thinking some time this week I will post about the
Moms Who Care room!  It has been such a great experience working with these Moms!

Would you like to know more about how I work together with this group of Moms?

What do you have planned in your office this week?

i am a parent in denial...

Do you know a parent in denial?

I talk to a lot of parents everyday!
How many you ask?  Probably 10-25.
I'm guessing- I should really keep track one day because the
actual number might be even more!

Anyway... there are times when I talk to a parent in denial.
This denial could be related to a number of issues their child has.
A few examples include:
  1. grades
  2. attendance
  3. friend choices
  4. clothing choices
  5. overall choices
The list could go on and on-Surely you're thinking of a few things right now :)

It can be very frustrating when someone so close to a potentially dangerous situation
can't seem to see accept what is actually happening.

Does being too emotionally close the situation make the reality blurred?

I recently tweeted about an article related to parents in denial.

You can read the article "Not My Kid: when parents are in denial"  here.

I was able to relate to the article because of a
situation I was recently involved with at school.

Denial is not helping your child :(

I also wrote another I AM poem!

Can you related to any of this?

I would love to hear from you :)

On a totally unrelated note....Happy Birthday!
Within my family of 5- three of us will have birthdays this week!

Will Blog for Comments

who loves comments?

Whenever I publish a post I always secretly hope for at least one comment :)
Well, the last week or so when I've checked my email in the morning,
I get super excited to see I have at least six new comments!
Then my excitement fades because I realize the new comments
were made by a metal rusted automated robot with no eyes
somewhere in the middle of nowhere.
These robots leave bizarre comments which make about 0.3% sense
and of course always end with a link to "their blog"-
Of course since I'm not a robot I never click on the link.
Mostly out of fear that my computer will contract
a computer virus similar to the latest H1N1 outbreak!
I'm still hoping to get some fabulous comments
from "real live" readers like you :)
You will just have to verify that you're not
one of the robots before your comment will be published :)
PS My husband recently learned how to play this song on his guitar!
Super cool :)

Attention All Dog Lovers...

We got a new puppy!

a silver lab

Remember a few weeks ago I posted about saying good-bye to
our 12 year old yellow lab named Addison?

Well, we missed having a dog in the house...

And  we quickly decided to get another one!
This time though we got a silver lab.
I didn't know silver labs existed until this week!
Once the family saw a picture of one we were all in love!
He really is the cutest thing!
Right now we can carry him around like a baby!
And yes, we are actually doing that :)
However, in a couple of months I know he'll be way too big to be carried!
His coat truly is silver (gray).
His eyes are blue now, but should turn into a pale yellow color soon.
Just precious...

Welcome to your new Home Otis!

PS  I took this adorable picture on my iPhone and made it even fancier using Red Stamp-
one of my new favorite and free apps- check them out!

Valentine's Day Printable!

I can't believe it is almost Valentine's Day!
The time really does fly by!

I'm not ready :(

I have no idea what I'm "making" for my kids to take to their school party!
I need to get that figured out this weekend.
Of course I'm also watching one of my kids swim at a meet this weekend too!
Anyone out there have kids who swim?
You know what I'm talking about...
getting to the pool by 6:45AM (we have a 45 minute drive too!)...
Fun!  Really, it is fun to watch all of the kids in the water.

Back to Valentine's Day

Here is a fun and free printable for your favorite school nurse!

Dr. Seuss .... free printable poem

I stumbled upon this Dr. Seuss poem on Pinterest
If you're a speech path (or know one) I think it would be worth
your time to check out this mother-daughter speech blog!
I enjoyed what I read :)
Anyway, with all of the changes surrounding
school nursing in IL, I found this poem quite time appropriate!
I've been thinking about IEPs for the last several months and
have been creating some forms to use for medical reviews.
As soon as I have them ready I will share them.
I made the poem into a cute 8 1/5 x 11 free printable-
right click, save, and print :)
I didn't write the poem, just created the cute printable.
Feel free to share it, print it, pin it,
and comment if you like it!
Thanks for reading!
You can also order your very own spiral notebook here!
Perfect for keeping all of your IEP information
for a school year neat and organized!

To Do List...

Just like my mom, I love lists!
I think I've posted about this before.
A to-do list keeps me organized and helps me prioritize
what I need to accomplish throughout the week.
They keep me on target and
keep me motivated throughout the week too!
If you're a school nurse you know exactly what I'm talking about
when I say our work time is one big interruption :)
I rarely work on the same project for more than 7 minutes at a time-
seriously, no joke, constant interruptions!
Having a weekly to-do list is a great reminder of what I need to do the next time
an extra seven minutes at my desk rolls around!
Today is Friday and I'm wrapping up one week
and looking ahead to next week trying to figure out what I need to focus on.
Here are a few of my goals for the upcoming week.
What do you have planned?
How do you keep your days and weeks organized?
I would love for you to leave me a comment :)
